VoiceXML is rapidly becoming the de facto language standard for handling the transition from visual Web browsing to synthesized text-to-speech information access.

Most VoiceXML books try to do too much: talk about voice hardware, telephony, the history of voice, tts, as well as be a VoiceXML reference. The weakness of these books is that one or more of these sections reveals that the authors do not really command the knowledge needed to make these sections useful.5/5(6).

VoiceXML excels at introducing the process of developing speech-enabled applications. With advice including how to phrase a prompt, how to specify grammar for recognizing the caller's response to a prompt, and what to do if the caller does not respond appropriately, this text answers fundamental speech user-interface by: out of 5 stars Excellent book on VoiceXML.

Reviewed in the United States on Octo I highly recommend this book. Very well written and the projects actually work once you work out your own knowledge of CGI and Perl, but that was not a big deal. I especially like the detailed comment on the code and the in-depth analysis of each Cited by: 5.

Definitive VoiceXML bridges the gap between enterprise computing and telephony engineering, demonstrating exactly how to build new enterprise-class voice applications and voice-enable existing applications. It's the first book that delivers the depth and breadth of knowledge needed by VoiceXML book enterprise and telephony developers, thoroughly addressing the unique challenges of building voice Cited by: 4.

The book aims to give the reader an in-depth analysis VoiceXML book the current state of VoiceXML technology. The information will help you develop voice-enabled applications now, and make sure you are ready for future advances of this quickly changing by: This book isn't a good book to use if you're looking to develop VoiceXML applications.

This book delves too far into proper software engineering and doesn't give enough information about the VoiceXML standard (doesn't touch vxml ). I wish I would have purchased the wrox version that covers voiceXML.2/5(1).

VoiceXML is an extensible markup language (XML) for the creation of automated speech recognition (ASR) and interactive voice response (IVR) applications. Based on the XML tag/attribute format, the VoiceXML syntax involves enclosing instructions (items) within a tag structure in the following manner.
